CSI- Fingerprinting Basics

This week in CSI class we all took a good look at our fingerprints by inking them onto paper and discussing the different ridge patterns we all have. The three main classes are loops, arches, and whorls. We had a little experiment in class where I used cyanoacrylate (super glue), some warm water, a closed container and a dull heat source to reveal latent prints on a CD. The fumes from the super glue stick to the print and create a white powder so that the invisible can be visible. Pretty neat!

Week of February 2-6, 2014

February already! My goodness, where does the time go? It's the month of LOVE, the love for MATH! Anyway, this week we are delving into the interesting world of inequalities. Everything we have learned thus far including the slope-intercept formula, and writing and solving two-step equations have prepared us for this.

Rest up and enjoy the weekend!

See y'all Monday!

This is a short video to help introduce what's to come this week.

Week of January 26-30, 2015

Last week's field trip was great and very educational. The movie Selma reflected on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his sacrifices for his beliefs. I hope that all of you took something from that experience with you and apply it to your own life. Remember that with constant perseverance and dedication anything is possible.

Failure is inevitable, but with it comes the will to succeed. I hope you all continue to persevere in math and never give up your thirst for knowledge.

With all that said, we will be covering a new topic including writing and solving two step equations and following that up with writing and solving inequalities.

Our district Benchmark is coming up and I am expecting nothing but a full blown effort from you.
Let's continue on our path to success!

Week of January 19-23, 2015

This Monday we have a formal assessment on what we have covered about the slope intercept formula, writing equations, and graphing linear relationships. Depending on the scores of this assessment (which should be good), we will be moving on to writing and solving two step equations.

This Thursday we will be having our field trip to Tinseltown in Mission, TX to view the movie Selma. This will be a great way to touch on MLK day which is tomorrow the 19th!

I hope you had a restful weekend and that you took some time to study!

The video below is a fun way to refresh on the formula y=mx+b!

Week of January 12-16, 2014

It was a good week back at school with the Science Fair that was held at the multipurpose center on Thursday. I am especially proud of the 7th graders for going above and beyond with their projects.
This coming week we will continue with graphing linear relationships and I will introduce inequalities!
Be prepared to come on Monday and absorb a lot of info! :)

These are just a few pictures from Thursday...

Week of January 5-9, 2015

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great break and enjoyed all the holiday festivities.

Time to get back to work and finish off the 2nd part of this school year!

This week we will begin with linear relationships, fun stuff!

See you soon!
