LINEAR EQUATIONS, TWO-STEP EQUATIONS, AND INEQUALITIES This week we will be having an assessment over the three lessons we have covered over the past few weeks which is linear equations, two-step equations, and inequalities. I have seen some major improvement with the amount of work being turned in and the quality of it as well. I want to congratulate all of the students who participated in the Science Fair last week, and especially to those advancing to regionals. Good Luck! February is a short month, but it will be full of upcoming activities. I urge you to be responsible and ask for your assignments in advance, so you don't fall behind with classwork. REMINDERS: Tuesday: Groundhog Day Thursday&Friday: District UIL Meet @ Roma Friday: Wear Red for American Heart Month (every Friday this month) The video below will help you get a quick review of how to graph inequalities. Fast forward to a 1:30 to get to inequalities.
INEQUALITIES This week you will be introduced to inequalities. We solve inequalities the same way you would solve equations, which is to isolate the variables. The only difference between solving an inequality and solving an equation, is the following: When when we multiply or divide by a negative number, the symbols flip. REMINDERS: Tuesday: Progress Report Night @PPP Thursday: Science Fair @MPC Getting into the Valentine's Day Spirit! :)
WRITING AND SOLVING TWO-STEP EQUATIONS This past week we learned about linear equations and how to write and graph them. The slope intercept formula was introduced, and we learned all about plotting points (rise over run). On Friday we had a graph on the floor and you were the y-intercept and slope points. On Monday we will review the concepts from last week, and then we will move on to two-step equations. By the end of the week you will know how to write and solve two-step equations and how they apply to real world situations. This is the third week of the six weeks, and progress reports are coming up. Please make sure attendance is a priority and you know exactly where to go to pick up any work you missed ( MIA board). I am so proud of the amount of work that is being turned in on time. Thank you and continue doing so, remember it benefits you to turn in work on time. REMINDERS:
LINEAR RELATIONSHIPS This week we will start a new lesson involving linear relationships. We will discuss writing and graphing equations in the form y= mx + b. We will use tables and verbal descriptions to describe linear relationships. In a linear relationship between two quantities,
as one quantity changes by a constant amount, the
other quantity also changes by a constant amount.
Proportional relationships are a special kind of linear
relationship. Please do your best to come to school, remember that attendance is important and how difficult it is to catch up when you miss days. REMINDERS:

WELCOME BACK!!! While you guys have been enjoying a couple more days of rest, your teachers have been back at work preparing for this upcoming new semester! I hope that you will come prepared and ready to learn! The rest of this week will be dedicated to reviewing and solidifying our knowledge of circumference and area of circles. Do not be surprised if we have a mini assessment on Friday. By next week I am hoping to start on a brand new lesson, LINEAR RELATIONSHIPS! Remember, everything we have learned so far has helped you prepare for what's to come. I am very excited to start this new six weeks and I hope you are too. You are halfway to becoming an eighth grader, isn't that crazy? Time flies when you're having fun. Please keep in mind we do have new times for our rotations, and you will be given your schedules and report cards on Wednesday when you come back REMINDERS:
